If you want class, style and elegance with an experience never to forget, then the Orient Express is the trip to choose. Often our customers will venture onto the Orient Express in Venice and stay on the train overnight to Paris, meaning they fall asleep in ‘La Dolce Vita’ and wake up in ‘Oooh La La’ Paris.
The Orient Express is pure class from start to finish. Your own personal Steward (who looks after your carriage) escorts you along the train and greets you when you first board. There, you are taken to your carriage where it decorated in an 1930’s style, think of Poirot (Murder on the Orient Express) and you’ve got it. Your room itself is fitted with a built in wash hand basin hidden in a cupboard allowing you to freshen up during your stay. There are no private shower/WC facilities on board the Orient Express. There are public facilities at each end of each carriage; these are kept to the highest standard.
The settee that you sit on during the day is magically transformed into bunk beds whilst you dine in the restaurant carriage. There are three of these, and a final bar carriage with a baby grand piano in it. There are two servings of evening meal meaning you can select a 7pm or 9pm time for your dinner. Only the best silver is on the table in the dining carriages- the most beautiful china, fresh flowers and great attention from the waiters. The experience here itself is enhanced by the fact everyone dresses up for the evening meal. Men wear tuxedo’s/black tie and women wear long/cocktail dresses. The better you dress the more you’re looked after. You cannot go over the top on the evening- there is no boundary on how glamorous you can go. If you want to be dripping in jewelry that’s fine, you won’t be out of place.
The train is paneled in Art Deco wooden panels with LaLique décor. You can admire this or look out of the window as you go through the idyllic landscapes of Switzerland. There are even stops along the way for passengers to stretch their legs. This carries you to your final destination where you find there has been no ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ and all have woken well rested. The journey is well worth the one evening in a time-capsuled train.
