If I’m completely truthful Portugal wasn’t somewhere I was particularly interested in until I was invited to stay in a villa over there.  Having now visited, my perception has completely changed!!!

I stayed in an area called Quinta Du Lago.  This is very popular for golf lovers and is a very high end resort.  Around this area there are a handful of hotels, the Conrad being a very new one which is absolutely stunning, but the majority are villas so is perfect for families wanting sun with luxury bars and restaurants.  They have a lot of seafood restaurants where I sampled some of the best tiger prawns ever!!  Quinta is also popular place with the celebs and many of them have villas in this area which I had a good nosey at!!

We hired a car for the week which was fantastic as we got to visit many other resorts including Valle De Lobo.  This resort is very close by to Quinta Du Lago and is very similar in the tourists it attracts and the standard of villa’s they have available.

I visited a resort called Villamora which was very nice with a pretty harbour with many shop and bars wrapped around it.  I would definitely say if you wanted to stay in a hotel, this would be the area for you as there are many places to walk, have good beaches and plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

Albufeira which is the most commercial and popular resort in Portugal, I was pleasantly surprised with.  It has two areas, the old and the new town.  The old town was lovely with cobbled streets and had a great oldie worldly feeling about it.

The new town is as I expected and packed with eateries, bars, and clubs and was very busy.

I am visiting Portugal again thisyear with my family and staying in Quinta again, I cannot wait :- )
